Editorial Policies

Focus and Scope

Educate~ is published once a year under the auspices of the Centre for Doctoral Education at the UCL Institute of Education, University College London. It was first published in 2001 and past issues are available by clicking on the 'Archives' link above or by browsing using the links on the right.
Educate~ aims to provide:

  • opportunities for the dissemination of the work of current doctoral students at any stage of their research, and recent doctoral graduates, on any aspect of education or related areas
  • opportunities for the dissemination of “work in progress” to the academic community
  • a resource for professionals involved in educational enquiry and research

Peer Review Process

Educate~ articles are peer reviewed by both an established academic and a current doctoral student. Articles are further reviewed by the editorial board as a whole.

 

Publication Frequency

Educate~ is published once a year.

 

Open Access Policy

Educate~ believes in distributing research outputs as widely as possible. Educate~ therefore supports unrestricted access to research outputs and published articles.

As an Open Access journal, all content published by Educate~ is freely available without charge to authors, readers or their institutions. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author.

Articles published in Educate~ are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported Licence that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in Educate~.

This means that published versions of Educate~ articles can be submitted to an institutional repository or published on personal websites, as long as the article's initial publication in Educate~ is acknowledged.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

 

Submission Policy

Articles must be submitted online through this system. The person making the submission must register a user account as an author, which will enable the function to start the submission process. It is possible to submit on behalf of another author, in this case, the submitting person must have the consent of the represented author(s) and provide contact details of the original author(s).

This journal does not charge article processing charges (APCs) or submission charges.
